On the first day of the week, at early dawn, Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James came to the tomb with spices to anoint the body of Jesus, which was their custom. When they arrived, the women found the stone was rolled away (Luke 24:2). With the stone removed, they were able to go in the tomb and see that it was empty.
